Güler Lacht was founded within the framework of City of Munich World-Wide Photo Biënnale, which held and exhibition in Groningen in March 2006. For the exhibition Janna and Onur made portraits in Turkish settings, and asked the viewers to reconsider their prejudices. The portraits are now travelling with hundreds, perhaps thousand of other self-portraits all over the world. Onur and Janna are planning to meet the exbition in Istanbul and to expand the already vast collection of portraits with help of Turkish artists.

Güler Lacht reappeared during the Atelier Route Groningen 2007. Visitors were asked to have their picture taken in the Guler Lacht Studio. The results were presented at the Noorderlicht photofestival Act of Faith. Güler Lacht dreams of going to Istanbul in the bold attempt to ask people to sit on the chair and take off their headscarf or mustache.

During KunstSpoor Stedum, Guler Lacht opened its studios in the countryside of Groningen. The earlier portraits could have been watched in the attic of a beautiful old farmhouse.

Güler Lacht spent summer 2010 in Oldeberkoop and enjoyed herself during the Whitsun weekend in Enschede, in military air force base Zuidkamp.
